Pediatric Bipolar I or Bipolar II Disorder
The current study is evaluating an oral medication that was FDA approved for adults as a treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder. If your child is struggling with depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder, this study may be of interest. Your child may eligible to participate if they:
Are a child between the ages 13 to 17 years old
Have been diagnosed with bipolar I or II disorder
Have a lifetime history of at least one manic or hypomanic episode
Are currently experiencing a major depressive episode (MDE) without psychosis that lasts between 1 and 12 months

as a treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder. The study doctors are investigating the safety and tolerability of the drug for pediatric patients. The results will help provide more information for the future of bipolar treatments for adolescents.
Patients who qualify for this study will be admitted to a facility and given one capsule once daily for 5 days. It is also possible that participation in this trial may result in one or more side effects. The study doctor will review all related risks and closely monitor participants at no cost.
